Harnessing Social Networks
NUEVAS TECNOLOGÍAS: The customer interaction provided by social-networking sites creates opportunities and pitfalls for businesses, but a new service called Ning smooths the way.
Just when you thought you and your business were getting the Web down cold, social networking has come along to confuse matters. After a decade of exposure to the Internet, mom-and-pop businesses and international giants alike have learned to make effective use of the Web. Now they need to figure out new strategies as the Web morphs from a mainly one-way method of communicating with customers to a free-for-all of user-created content...

From Manufacturing to Design: An Essay on the Work of Kim B. Clark
CULTURA DE INNOVACIÓN:
"...Dynamic Manufacturing directly challenged Taylor’s principles of scientific management. U.S.
companies had relied on Taylor’s ideas since the advent of mass production in the early twentieth century. But, according to Clark, Taylor’s methods led to a production system frozen in time. Japanese methods, in contrast, relied on learning capacity and collaboration to attain continuous improvement of the process. Japanese companies were able to improve productivity by identifying problems, experimenting with new solutions, and applying the solutions quickly to their production lines. Hence there was a “new paradigm”..."

Fuel Cells. Next generation

NUEVAS TECNOLOGÍAS: Hydrogen fuel cell cars promise pollution free driving .. but will we see them anytime soon?
Everyone from automakers to environmentalists to politicians is touting hydrogen fuel cell cars as the wave of the future. But just how soon will that wave arrive? Most experts agree that major technological and economic hurdles need to be cleared before these silent, pollution-free automobiles proliferate on the nation's highways. Have a look at this website and enjoy an explanatory video and other comments and articles about this new technology that may change the future. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sciencenow/3210/01.html
3 way Baby buggy - INDITEX

NUEVOS PRODUCTOS Y SERVICIOS: Maximization of the client's commercial network/Inditex
Inditex has generally grown in the fashion textile retailing in two axes: 1. New geographic markets, 2, New customer segments. To achieve top-line growth, a third axis of growth was attempted, this being the diversification of product beyond fashion textile. Children strollers were spotted as a suitable starting point as they are already being placed in children’s wear stores. In order to hit cost target and to be able to launch in a record time, an alternative manufacturing strategy from regular stroller makers was designed. It consisted of using suppliers and technologies from other industries and apply their processes and materials to our product. This allowed to manufacture the stroller’s structure in Spain, close to Inditex’s headquarter’s, thus facilitating the industrialisation process. The textile’s were designed in Spain and manufactured in Asia. http://www.thenodecompany.com/results/work_project.asp?id=914
The Race To Build Really Cheap Cars
NUEVOS PRODUCTOS Y SERVICIOS:The newest thing on four wheels is sturdy, inexpensive, and probably not made in the U.S.
How cheap is cheap? Renault-Nissan Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn is betting that for autos, the magic number is under $3,000. At a plant-opening ceremony in India Apr. 4, he was already talking up the industry's next challenge: a future model that would sport a sticker price as low as $2,500—about 40% less than the least expensive subcompact currently on the market. Renault-Nissan is the first global automaker to take up the gauntlet thrown down in 2003 by India's Tata Motors, which plans to launch a $2,500 car next year. Both are leading a race to the bottom that could affect the business every bit as much as Henry Ford's Model T did a century ago.
